Adele teases fans with new song and its good

adeleIf you are like most Adele fans, you are more than ready for some new music by British pop superstar, and that time may be at hand. It’s been more than four years since she released her last album.

In a commercial break during U.K. reality show X Factor on Sunday evening, a black screen appeared with Adele’s voice singing the following lyrics, and it was good, very good. Adele’s album last album “21”, which was released in 2011, saw huge success, selling 8.3 million units globally in 2012 and 18.1 million in 2011.

Adele won six Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards for the album. The new song is classic Adele, a love song and in 30 secs leaves you wanting to hear the next lyric. The clip makes it almost impossible to listen just once, but then all Adele songs are that way aren’t they?

“Hello, it’s me / I was wondering if after all these years / you’d like to meet to go over everything / they say that time’s supposed to heal ya / but I ain’t done much healing …”.

Last month, rumor had it that Sony would release Adele’s next album Nov. 20, a release date that conveniently opened up. Obviously Twitter almost broke with the news and fans can’t wait for the rest of it, and isn’t that what brilliant marketing is all bout?

  • Grateful Dead Co-Founder Phil Lesh Has Bladder Cancer

Grateful Dead Co-Founder Phil Lesh Has Bladder Cancer

Phil Lesh, a founding member of influential band the Grateful Dead, has been diagnosed with non-aggressive bladder cancer and has canceled a pair of October concerts. Lesh battled prostate cancer in 2006. The 75-year-old bassist announced his illness Friday on the Facebook page of his San Rafael restaurant and concert hall, Terrapin Crossroads.

“I am very fortunate to have the pathology reports show that the tumors are all non-aggressive, and that there is no indication that they have spread,” Lesh said in the statement.

“So thanks to my local doctor Cliff Sewell and the incredible team at the Mayo Clinic, all is well and I can return to normal activities in two weeks from my surgery.”

Lesh is a founding member of the Grateful Dead, an American jam band that formed in the 1960s. The San Francisco group disbanded in the mid-1990s and Lesh went on to form his own music group Phil & Friends.

Recently, his band was touring with Chris Robinson, a singer with the Black Crowes.

After the death of Grateful Dead lead singer Jerry Garcia in 1995, the band has been revived in various forms.

In July, the four surviving members of the Grateful Dead, including Lesh, gave what they said will be their last group performance at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Taylor Swift Halloween Concert Set for Tampa

taylor swiftPop music goddess Taylor Swift will be playing at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Halloween on Oct. 31. The Tampa Sports Authority is taking a risk, in hopes of a big payday, because the authority had to offer Swift a $2.75 million guarantee to win a date on her “1989 World Tour.” If the show sells out, Swift would earn $928,000 on top of the $2.75 million guarantee and thus assuring the Tampa Sports Authority of a $700,000 payday which they would have to split with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under terms of their operating agreement with the authority.

The 1989 Tour still has a few weeks to run and is a rousing success, bringing in a mind-boggling $173 million from 59 concerts over 17 weeks. According to Billboard, Swift’s latest album “1989” just spent its 49th consecutive week in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.

1989 sold 1,287,000 its first week — that’s more than the sum of the next 100 titles on the Billboard 200 (for the same week) combined for sales week ending Nov. 2, according to Nielsen Music.

Swift will close her “1989” World Tour this December in Australia and is said to be looking forward to spending some time with her mom, who is her confidant and comforter.

“If you let your anxiety get the better of you, like everybody’s waiting for you to really mess up, then you’ll be done,” Swift explains. “A lot of the time I call my mom and talk for a really long time, just to remind myself of all the things that are great and that matter.”

Audience To Be Nude For Miley Cyrus Naked Concert

mileycyrusWould you shed your clothes for a concert? That’s what Miley Cyrus is requesting of the audience of her upcoming naked concert with the Flaming Lips’. During the concert, the singer plans to be completely nude. The members of the Flaming Lips’ have agreed to be nude as well. To attend the show, the audience members must also lose the clothing.

Wayne Coyne, the Flaming Lips’ front man, confirmed plans for the naked concert on Instagram. The image accompanying the announcement was a split image of Cyrus and the band members seemingly unclothed. They won’t be the first artists to get naked for a concert. The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Erykah Badu have also performed unclothed.

The Instagram announcement also revealed that white stuff that apparently looks like milk will be spewed everywhere during the concert. Portions of the concert will be filmed for Cyrus’s upcoming video for her “Milky Milky Milk” single.

Nudity has not appeared to be a problem for Miley Cyrus for quite some time now. The popular “Wrecking Ball” singer is well-known for posting racy photos online. She also flashed her nipples during her hosting stint at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

Cyrus and Coyne formerly collaborated on the NSFW “Superfreak” music video. They have also collaborated on multiple songs, including a cover of the Beatles “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. The best friends sport matching tattoos in honor of Cyrus’s late dog, Floyd.

  • Presidential Campaign Music Raises Artists’ Ire

Presidential Campaign Music Raises Artists’ Ire

Presidential campaigns are carefully choreographed affairs where every detail of a candidate’s image is examined and enhanced to show them in the best light. The clothing the candidate wears, the strategically placed supporters, and the music used for entrances and exits from the stage are all cautiously selected by a team of campaign staffers.

Sometimes, problems occur when the politician, or their staff, does not inform the musicians that they intend to use their music as part of their campaign. The gaffes are typically blamed on campaign staffers lack of knowledge about the applicable rules. There is also a legal gray area over licensing rules for music in political campaigns.

It seems like it would be easy for politicians to avoid using songs that will get them publicly shamed by musicians. It tends to occur every presidential campaign season. The musicians that created these songs are not always happy to find out that a presidential campaign is using their song during their events.

Neil Young complained to the Donald Trump campaign in June over its use of his song “Rockin’ In The U.S.A.” at a campaign event. Then, last month at a rally opposing President Obama’s deal with Iran, Trump took the stage with “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” by R.E.M. playing over the sound system in the background.

The members of the band quickly took to social media to angrily denounce Trump’s use of the song at the rally. An official statement from the band says that the band’s members “do not authorize or condone the use of our music at this political event, and do ask that these candidates cease and desist from doing so.”

Last weekend, Trump was dinged by another artist for using music in his campaign without permission. Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, had his lawyer send a cease and desist letter to Trump’s campaign threatening legal action if he continued to use the band’s 1973 hit “Dream On” at his events.

The letter stated, “If Trump for President does not comply with our demands, our client will be forced to pursue any and all legal or equitable remedies which our client may have against you.” Subsequent reports have stated that Tyler and Trump have spoken and Trump has agreed to no longer use the song.

  • Selena Gomez Moves Past Illness – ‘Revival’ Heading for No. 1

Selena Gomez Moves Past Illness – ‘Revival’ Heading for No. 1

selena gomezSelena Gomez is on track to earn her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest release, Revival.

Industry observers are predicting the set, which was released on Oct. 9 through Interscope Records. may move upwards of 110,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 15.

    Good for her !

This after published reports detailed her diagnosis and battle with Lupus.

In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, pop star Selena Gomez revealed that she has lupus. She reportedly underwent chemotherapy to treat the autoimmune disease. Rumors about the singer’s lupus diagnosis circulated in early 2014, but this is the first time that Gomez has publicly commented on having the disease.

Around the time Gomez was likely diagnosed with lupus, she canceled several appearances for her Stars Dance tour and stepped out of the spotlight for a bit. The cancellations stirred up gossip that the pop singer might be struggling with some type of addiction. At the time, she did not respond to the rumors.

The previous rumors of an addiction problem were further fueled by Gomez’s entry into a rehabilitation program. At the time, the singer’s rep even confirmed she was receiving treatment at Dawn at the Meadows Recovery Facility in Wickenburg, AZ. However, her rep denied that she was being treated for substance abuse and addiction, instead indicating that Gomez was seeking treatment for emotional issues, as well as for partying.

Gomez reports feeling hurt by all the negative speculation on whether or not she was dealing with a substance abuse problem when she was actually struggling with lupus.

The pop singer is not alone in her lupus diagnosis. Approximately 1.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with the disease. It is most common in women who are between 15 and 44 years of age.

According to Dr. Joan Merrill with the Lupus Foundation of America, “There can be an increased risk of…strokes, blood clotting in the legs or even heart attacks.”

Mild cases of the disease can be treated with anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressant drugs such as steroids or aspirin. More serious cases require chemotherapy.

In addition to discussing her lupus diagnosis and treatment during the interview, Gomez also opened up about struggling with her self-esteem. She admits to having a hard time dealing with hurtful comments posted on the Internet earlier this year. “I was in a bikini and got publicly ripped for being overweight,” she says. “That was the first time I’d experienced body shaming like that.” Gomez says she has since been working in therapy and is feeling more confident now.

She even posed nude on the cover of her new album, Revival.
